Rules of the BSP Championship
Welcome to the BSP Championship – the slightly different archery tournament!
All types of bows and age classes compete together in an open ranking system. The goal is to have fun, increase training motivation, and engage in fair sports competition – all without much effort, but with fair rules.
1. General Procedure
- The qualification round and all final rounds are shot locally – whether on the field or in the hall.
- There is no division based on bow type, gender, or age class.
- The shooting format is:
-
Outdoors: 72 arrows
-
Indoors: 60 arrows (Recurve, Blank, and Longbow count the large 10, while Compound counts the small 10, i.e., X.)
-
- Each participant chooses their distance and target face before the qualification.
This choice must be maintained throughout the finals. - Maximum arrows 2315.
2. Reporting Results for Qualification
Example:
-
Nickname 1 / Recurve / 540
-
Nickname 2 / Compound / 589
-
Nickname 3 / Compound / 572
-
Nickname 4 / Recurve / 581
These results will form the ranking for the final rounds.
| Nickname | Bow Type | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Nickname 2 | Compound | 589 |
| Nickname 4 | Recurve | 581 |
| Nickname 3 | Compound | 572 |
| Nickname 1 | Recurve | 540 |
3. Final Rounds – Starting from the 1/16 Final
- In each final round, 15 arrows are shot.
- A handicap system is used to compare all bow types fairly.
How the Handicap works:
- The average score per arrow from the qualification results is calculated.
- This average is extrapolated to 15 arrows (e.g., 589/60 = 9.82 x 15 = 147.25).
- The difference between the extrapolated scores of the two opponents is calculated.
- The difference is rounded up and applied as a handicap deduction to the higher score in the final match.
Example:
-
Nickname 1: 540 points → (540 / 60 x 15) = 135
-
Nickname 2: 589 points → (589 / 60 x 15) = 147.25 → Difference: 12.25 = 12 points handicap (rounded up from 0.5)
Final Round:
-
Nickname 1 shoots 136 points
-
Nickname 2 shoots 145 points → subtracting handicap (12) = 133 points
→ Nickname 1 wins the match
The handicap is recalculated for each final round!
4. Result Improvement
- Until the respective deadline, you can submit results multiple times if you improve your score.
- Only the best result will count.
5. Tiebreaker in Case of Equal Scores
- In the event of a tie in the finals, a shot-off will be held with 3 arrows, also with a handicap calculation.
6. Fun and Motivation
This championship is just for fun – it’s all about enjoying the shooting and creating a small sports incentive for your training.
There’s nothing to win, but as in the past, I will create PDF certificates for the top 3 places after the final and send them to you by email.
